Assistant Library Director (South Pasadena)
With an eye on the future, the South Pasadena Public Library is recruiting its first Assistant Library Director. The opening occurs after voters again overwhelmingly passed Measure L, a Library Special Tax Initiative (by over 80%!), that will increase funding for the next 8 years. As a result, the Library seeks a bright, creative, passionate, and achievement-oriented individual to confidently assume the reins of this upper management level position.
The Assistant Library Director will utilize a broad range of professional skills, knowledge, and experience to help the Library meet and exceed the challenges of the 21st Century. The Assistant Director will embrace change in guiding the Library’s provision of outstanding resources, projects, programs, and services for community members of all ages and backgrounds. The Assistant Library Director will also oversee Children’s Services, Adult Services (including Teens), and Support/Technical Services.
The City of South Pasadena is nicknamed “The City of Trees” and is an official Tree City USA. It is known for its great schools and arts, education, and culturally-oriented, family-friendly community. South Pasadena is also a preservationist community and beautiful homes, yards, and buildings can be seen by walking in every direction. Its downtown feels like a pretty village set in greater LA and it’s famous for battling a freeway that would have cut it in half. In 2014 South Pasadena was selected as one of Sunset magazine’s “Best Places to Live in the West.” The South Pasadena Public Library is an expanded and renovated Carnegie Library in a beautiful park situated in a cozy, historic neighborhood.
